ADVOCACY & EQUITY
YWCA stands against racism and supports racial justice and gender equity issues. YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix is committed to being a safe space where the necessary and courageous conversations about race, equity, and inclusion can and do occur.
By serving as a convener of substantive and vital dialogues, we shine a light on the amazing progress that is being made in our neighborhoods, communities, and all across Arizona, while acknowledging the work that remains ahead. Our offerings, including workshops and other events, provide room for anyone and everyone, no matter where they are in their anti-racist and gender justice journeys, to learn together.
Advocating for Women
We are committed to providing programs and services that equip women with the tools they need to impact their lives, their family’s lives, and the lives of women around them for the better. Learn more about our hands-on work in making women more financially literate and independent.
We go out and do the work to advocate for women and gender rights, but we can’t do this work alone. Raise your voice with us. Check out our advocacy priorities at YWCA USA Advocacy Center

Week Without Violence
Week Without Violence is part of a global YWCA movement and around the world to end violence against women and girls. At YWCA, we know that gender violence is not recognized equally and is often ignored and unrecognized. That’s why, for more than 20 years, YWCA has set aside one week in October as a Week Without Violence.
Tribute to Leadership
Since 1994, YWCA’s Tribute to Leadership Awards Program has been an annual celebration to recognize the accomplishments of leaders in our community who strive to improve the lives of women, girls, and people of color through leadership, advocacy, and community service. We have recognized 260 unstoppable honorees and we are just getting started!
YWCA has been at the forefront in the fight for racial justice nationwide. We are committed to taking a stand to eliminate racism and promote inclusion and tolerance for all in a safe space where the necessary and courageous conversations about race, equity, and inclusion can and do occur.
We know that by raising consciousness and awareness of how race impacts issues in Phoenix, we can make our community stronger. By serving as a convener for these substantive and vital dialogues, we are shining a light on both the amazing work that is being done to make our neighborhoods more equitable, and highlight the gaps to inclusion that remain.
STAND AGAINST RACISM
Each April we join our sister associations from across the country to Stand Against Racism. As a safe space to hold conversations on race, equity, and inclusion, Stand Against Racism provides a place for us to unite our voices to educate, advocate, and promote racial justice.

YOU · Nity Learning Circles
Each quarter we convene a group of folks to engage in conversation and learning around systemic racism and gender inequality. Some learning circles may include a panel discussion, others a book reading or a theatrical workshop. Click here to view our Learning Circle library and to participate in our next convening.
21 Day Challenge
Inspired by the work of Dr. Eddie Moore and Debbie Irving, we have created our 21-day challenge to eliminate racism and empower women. In joining this challenge, you commit to creating the space and time to build more effective habits. Daily challenges may include: reading an article, listening to a podcast, watching a video, or writing to your government.
Next Challenge begins Spring 2022.
