Events expected in 40+ States across the country
Phoenix, AZ, April 25, 2018 – Arizona YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix calls all individuals to join us in taking a Stand Against Racism. Stand Against Racism will unite our community in a bold demonstration that delivers a clear message: we are on a mission to Eliminate Racism.
YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix is committed to taking a stand to eliminate racism and promote inclusion and tolerance. Stand Against Racism is the YWCA’s annual racial justice campaign. The campaign is dedicated to raising awareness about and dismantling institutional and structural racism and build community.
This year’s theme is “Our Power, Our Mission, Our Future.” We know that voting rights and civic engagement are crucial for racial justice. As we have been seeing in the past year, women, people of color and young people are activating like never before. We look to build on this momentum.
“Our Stand Against Racism Program is designed to build community, raise awareness about racism, and encourage community members to take action for change. Through our collaborations, we create an on-going, daily dialogue that is a catalyst for real and sustainable change,” said YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix Advocacy Committee Chair, Felicia Rotellini.
Over 30 local sites and more than 20 partners, including A New Leaf, Desert Botanical Garden, The Arizona Republic, DriveTime, Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, Franciscan renewal Center, Foothills Community Church and many other businesses and organizations across the Valley will join the efforts of YWCA’s across the country as we support full access and engagement for people of color, as well as women and girls, in the political process.
