We are honored to host several special events throughout the year. Additionally, we’re proud to join community partners to raise awareness and bring consciousness to issues surrounding racial justice and gender equality.
LUNAFEST is a film festival dedicated to championing women filmmakers and bringing women together in their communities hosted by #SoroptimistInternationalofPhoenix. Phoenix’s first prime time anchorwoman, Mary Jo West, and Phoenix Film Critics Society President and RightThisMinute Reporter, Gayle Bass, bring their passion and talents to LUNAFEST as this year’s co-emcees for the online event.
Get connected with our mission and advance your racial justice journey by joining us for a virtual information session! Rising Leaders in Motion is our NEW group for emerging community leaders. The info session will highlight the group’s volunteer, networking, and personal development opportunities.
The more the merrier…feel free to bring your friends! We invite you to extend the invitation to any friends or co-workers who are interested in furthering their social justice journey and make an impact their community.
Our 21-Day Challenge takes individuals on a journey to become more mindful, to create dedicated space for learning and to partner with YWCA (and fellow participants) in eliminating racism and empowering women.
This experience helps participants to understand how racial and social injustices impact our community and to identify ways to dismantle inequities and discrimination. Our Challenge begins on May 3rd and you can register at any point during the Challenge.
Our host, Dr. Tara Nkrumah, will be joined by Arizona STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) professionals Kayla Balliew, Dr. William Johnson, and Rachel Ware. We are honored to hear their inspirational stories about their career journey, overcoming adversities, addressing racism, the impact of gender discrimination, and so much more! This unique and powerful event will shine the light on career opportunities in STEAM and an even brighter light on the race and gender inequities in the STEAM sector.
You will also hear from our CEO Debbie Esparza, and Intel Community Affairs leader Jennifer Sanchez as we share an impactful announcement about our partnership to address STEAM equity in Arizona – you aren’t going to want to miss it!
