2019 Tribute to Leadership -Dorothy Willey Award Recipient – Annie Groth
Annie was born in Garden City, Kansas and raised by her Grandmother. Annie grew up in Horace Kansas and Garden City, Kansas. Annie Groth received her Certified Family Business Specialist (CFBS) designation from The American College and has over 17 years of experience working with and strategizing for family business owners. Her financial planning practice involves advanced estate planning, business succession planning, executive compensation and benefit plan designs, and retirement planning.
Annie began her 17+ year career with The Guardian Life Insurance/Park Avenue Securities. After 8 years, she left to join the MassMutual Financial Group AZ to enhance her abilities and reach for individuals and family businesses.
In 2008, Annie launched Pearls of Wisdom, a quarterly event addressing real life problems facing women every day. Through Pearls of Wisdom Annie encourages women to take responsibility for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs through knowledge and education. Pearls of Wisdom allows her to reach women of all socio-economic levels to give them resources they may not otherwise find themselves.
Other accomplishments of Annie’s include: completing a half Iron Man, Olympic Distance and many Sprint Tris, running a half marathon, hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim in just over 12 hours, completing over 400 Miles of the El Camino de Santiago in France and Spain, and completing the master’s program at the American College for her Certified Family Business designation.
Annie is a community leader, advocate, mentor, civil rights champion, and passionate about community service. Annie’s accomplishes include Athena Valley of the Sun recipient, Outstanding Woman in Business, Community Gold Service Award, Nomination for Financial Advisor of the Year and a Special Congressional Recognition.
Her advice to young women is; don’t wait until you are 100% sure. Take the risk and believe in you!
The mission of the YWCA resonates with Annie as it has been her primary mission and will always be her mission to help women with their financial lives. Annie is deeply committed to leaving the world a better place for all.
